The Group Strategic Planning Director will oversee a team as it relates to consumer understanding and insight to inform the development of marketing and communications solutions. They will oversee the day-to-day activity on assigned client accounts. They will supervise the research and process pertaining to strategy development and creative development. They will be responsible for the training and development of his/her account planning team. Contributes to making Conill a recognized industry leader. Chief Strategy Officer
Provides deep consumer understanding and insight
Inspires multidisciplinary teams (creative, media, digital) Act as a mentor. Needs to work collaboratively and direct the actions of the department’s other planners, as well as a host of more junior staffers from around the agency. More than working independently, it is the expectation that the Director, Strategic Planning will coach and mentor others through the strategic process.
Effectively manages other players, providing mentoring and leading by example; inspires direct reports to produce high quality work
Guides teams into bringing the consumer to life (e.g., creating insightful and visually stimulating presentations, videos, day in the life of, etc.)
Identifies the need for, recommends and supervises suitable qualitative and quantitative primary research, including: development of RFPs, vendor briefings and bids, design/methodology, screener, discussion guide/questionnaire and logistics
Turns research (secondary and primary research, both qualitative and quantitative) and information into insights and compelling stories and strategies
Presents compellingly and confidently; able to think on their feet; Has great ability to listen and think in the moment.
Provides market context and understanding of current and potential targets for communication strategies
Turns marketplace and environment insights and trends into opportunities and implications for clients’ businesses
Moderates focus groups and other qualitative studies
Oversees the execution of strategy related projects
Participates in the execution of agency initiatives and research projects (e.g., new business, white papers, Xploring)
Leads the development of stimulating Creative Briefs
Initiates and influences creative development, feeding the creative and media teams with insight and working with them to ensure the work is on strategy
Creates insightful, visually engaging presentations
Builds a relationship of trust and respect with internal stakeholders

8+ years’ experience working as a strategist and 2-3 years managing other strategists at an integrated agency. Automotive experience preferred.

· High Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point and/or Keynote, as well as syndicated research tools and cross-tabulation software are highly desirable.
· Bilingual Spanish fluency is required.
Long hours are often necessary; evenings and/or weekend work may be required. Significant travel may be associated with this position. Conill is a professional, fast-paced, creative business environment. There may be times when lifting up to 25lbs is required.
